Life Underwriting Support Specialist Objective
To be an effective team member of the Life Underwriting Department. To provide quality support services in a prompt and professional manner to Farm Bureau Insurance agents and underwriters.
Life Underwriting Support Specialist Responsibilities
Assist Underwriters by completing tasks necessary to assign risks to a policy by ordering necessary requirements from third party vendors, including medical records. Order medical records and follow-up until they are received. Reconcile medical record invoices and pay fees. Communicate effectively with Underwriters and medical facilities to obtain records as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Facilitate audits for automated underwriting system applications. Manage incoming emails, calls, and messages for Underwriters.
Use company underwriting guidelines, industry guidelines, statutory requirements, and medical knowledge to underwrite and process simple life insurance applications, for example, children’s applications and low face amount applications.
Life Underwriting Support Specialist Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One to two years Life insurance processing experience required.
Knowledge of life/annuity products required.
Ability to learn quickly.
Willingness to pursue continuing job related training and education required. FALU, FLMI, CLU, ChFC, or LLIF designation preferred, or actively being pursued.
Preferred
Associate’s degree preferred with focus on insurance, business administration, finance or management.
Experienced computer usage and proven skills in Microsoft Office including Excel or similar spreadsheet software preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
