OBJECTIVE

Risk & Safety Management Representative Objective

To provide consultation, education, and training to employers regarding risk and safety management matters. To establish and maintain a business partnership and ambassador-type relationship with agents and insured policyholders. To perform high level risk and safety site inspections of existing and prospective policyholders. To generate technical risk/safety site-specific reports designed to identify risk/safety loss control exposures and recommend appropriate controls to minimize the frequency and magnitude of potential losses. To analyze current technology, trends, and data in the risk and safety profession and communicate to underwriting and clients. To be a resource to Michigan Farm Bureau for presentations and speaking engagements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk & Safety Management Representative Responsibilities

Perform risk and safety reviews and service plans for Farm Bureau Insurance agriculture and commercial insureds.

 

Conduct necessary site inspections, surveys, audits, training, and consultation to accomplish individual clients’ Service Plan.

 

Produce and process client correspondence, including response to recommendations, site and operational observations, recommendations, and status reports.

 

Inspect new and existing policyholders, both commercial and agriculture, for exposures and hazards that may lead to loss. Determine management controls to address exposures, and provide recommendations and resources to control discovered exposures and hazards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Risk & Safety Management Representative Qualifications

 

Required

Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field required, or equivalent experience may be considered.  

 

Working knowledge of safety and risk management practices and principles, including regulatory (ie; OSHA, DOT) and national consensus codes (ie; NFPA) required.

 

Understanding of the commercial/farm insurance business process and the fundamental role of risk and safety management in that process required.

 

Willingness to pursue continuing job-related training and education required.

 

Designations in Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required.

 

Experience applying root cause analysis problem solving strategies required.

 

Preferred

Minimum five years of commercial/farm loss control or related experience preferred.
