Associate Casualty Claims Representative Responsibilities
Investigate, evaluate and control small to medium-sized casualty claims as directed.
Explain loss settlement figures and claim procedures to customers.
Understand and explain basic policy language, coverage and exclusions.
Evaluate and adjust reserves on small to medium-sized claims and make payments within authority.
Adjust all reserves to accurately reflect known exposures according to current information available.
Revise reserves based on developments in the course of adjusting the claim.
Acquire working knowledge of general procedures and Casualty Best Practices.
Acquire working knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
Acquire general knowledge of claim file content and reporting requirements, claims settlement and
administrative policies and procedures.
Acquire good reserving techniques and reserve-development patterns.
Investigate and interpret policy as it pertains to the loss, evaluate liability, negotiate settlement or declination, and defend Farm Bureau insureds according to Farm Bureau insurance contracts.
Accomplish function under direct supervision with emphasis on customer service and controlling loss and loss adjustment expenses.
Evaluate insurance coverage based on loss notice, insurance policies, applicable statutes and case law to determine if insurance coverage is afforded.
Place continuous focus on improvement based on maintaining and increasing knowledge and skill as it relates to casualty claim-handling, including but not limited to technology, legal, medical, enhanced insurance contracts, and developments in the insurance industry.
Deliver exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers on each contact.
Maintain strong working relationships with Underwriting, Marketing, Medical Claims, the Litigation Unit, and all others associated with the processing of any casualty claim.
Participate in Round Table discussions.
Associate Casualty Claims Representative Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred with focus on business administration, communication, health or insurance-related field.
Minimum one to six months’ experience required.
Keyboarding skills of 40 wpm required.
Must possess outstanding listening and customer service skills.
Knowledge of computers and various software including Microsoft Office products required.
Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
Designation in AIC, INS, CPCU, SCLA or similar insurance designation preferred, or actively being pursued.
